Seabreeze Bamboo or Bambusa Malingensis is a beautiful tropical to sub tropical bamboo that is great for privacy screening and makes a handsome tropical hedge row. Seabreeze Bamboo Malingensis is a medium sized bamboo that will achive an overall height of around 30' if left untrimmed, and is cold tolerant to 18F. It has an upright form compared to many other bamboos, which makes it one of the best taller hedge bamboo and privacy screen selections available. Very quickly produces a tight clump of new shoots 1/2" to 3/4" in diameter packed very closely together, with a more erect form than most other bamboo.Each year the shoots will be larger in height and diameter until it reaches a top height of 30' with 2" diameter mature culms. I have seen this bamboo used to screen out unwanted intrusions such as nearby apartments or crowded roads that may border a property. Anywhere privacy is needed Malingensis Seabreeze Bamboo is a valuable solution. Seabreeze Bamboo Malingensis is the most salt tolerant of all the bamboo I have seen, and can be used in costal areas without fear of damage. In hurricane and high winds Malingensis is quite impressive and bends with the wind. Use as an individual specimen planted alone or plant on 4'-6' centers to form a thick very tropical looking hedge. 8'-12' centers is the proper spacing for a wind break or privacy screen. This is definately one of my favorite bamboos, I love the way it quickly establishes itself then just keems shooting up new culms. This is an easy bamboo to grow and keep beautiful.
